DIY Epoxy LED Pendant Light: A Glowing Slice of Nature

Elevate your space with a unique DIY pendant light. By combining the natural beauty of wood with the brilliance of LED lights and the protective power of epoxy resin, you can create a truly one-of-a-kind lighting fixture.

Materials Needed:

  • A slice of tree trunk or large branch
  • LED strip lights
  • Clear epoxy resin
  • Colored epoxy resin (optional)
  • Drill
  • Jigsaw or bandsaw
  • Sandpaper
  • Light hanging post
  • LED to AC outlet device
  • Circular piece of wood
  • Wood glue
  • Paintbrush

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Wood Slice:
    • Choose a well-dried slice of wood with interesting grain patterns.
    • Use a jigsaw or bandsaw to carefully cut a slim section out of the wood, following the natural rings. This will create a channel for the LED strip lights.
    • Drill a hole through the wood to allow the wires from the LED strips to pass through.
  2. Install the LED Strip Lights:
    • Cut the LED strip lights to the desired length.
    • Place the LED strips into the channel, ensuring they are securely positioned.
    • Feed the excess wire through the drilled hole.
  3. Apply Clear Epoxy Resin:
    • Mix the clear epoxy resin according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Carefully pour the epoxy resin into the channel, covering the LED strips completely.
    • Allow the epoxy to cure fully.
  4. Add Color (Optional):
    • Once the clear epoxy has cured, you can add color to the epoxy.
    • Mix the desired color of epoxy resin and apply it over the clear epoxy.
    • Allow the colored epoxy to cure.
  5. Attach the Hanging Post:
    • Glue the circular piece of wood to the top of the wood slice, hiding the LED to AC outlet device underneath.
    • Attach the light hanging post to the circular piece of wood.
  6. Hang Your Pendant Light:
    • Hang the pendant light from your ceiling using the light hanging post.
    • Plug in the LED to AC outlet device to illuminate your stunning creation.

Tips:

  • For a more polished look, sand the edges of the wood slice before applying the epoxy resin.
  • Experiment with different colors of epoxy resin to create unique effects.
  • Consider adding additional elements to your pendant light, such as dried flowers or metal accents.

By following these steps, you can create a beautiful and functional DIY epoxy LED pendant light that will add a touch of natural elegance to your home.
